Why this happens
That green and those black streaks are alive. And they are eating your house.
The green film on your siding is algae and mildew. The black streaks on your roof are a roof algae called Gloeocapsa magma. It feeds on the minerals in your shingles. Left alone, it grows into moss that eats through the roof. Rain does not wash any of it off, because it is not dirt. It is growth.
Here is the part most people never hear: blasting it with high pressure is the wrong fix for siding and shingles. High pressure can strip paint, force water behind vinyl, and knock the protective granules right off a roof. The stains come back anyway, because the growth was never killed.

Tony Mariano spent 25 years in law enforcement before starting New Look Soft Wash in 2022, right here in Mayfield. He is also an FAA licensed drone pilot, which is how a small NEPA crew ends up cleaning buildings 200 feet tall.
